Bob Schwartz's and Fred Buse's MBA students at UAlbany were finalists in the Tech Valley Business Plan Competition.
Four of five teams in their Initiation of Enterprise Management class reached the finals of this competition with students
from RPI, Union, Clarkson and the UAlbany Nanoscale Science and Engineering. Students created business plans focused on renewable
energy/sustainable innovations and were judged on the feasibility, sustainability, potential market and financing of their product
and qualifications of their management team. More than $25,000 in cash and in-kind awards were made to the winning teams.

Frederic J. Buse,
Managing Director, has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the New
York Compensation Insurance Rating Board (NYCIRB). Since the enactment of
the Workers' Compensation Law in 1914, the NYCIRB has been licensed as the
official organization for the collection of data and development of workers
compensation rates.

The Grandoe Company, manufacturer of fine leather and high
performance sports gloves;for 10 years to Dais Analytic
Corporation, a nanotechnology polymer materials and processes company,to Bull Dog Well Service, an oil field services company and a
related oil and gas production company,to ReadyJet, a services provider to the airline industry,
for more than 10 years to Artech Information Services, a
provider of staff augmentation, project management and business outsourcing
services to commercial and government clients
SHG assisted in M & A assignments: Morgan Crucible Company, plc in the sale
of its US-based metal injection molding business to ATW Companies; HAPPY Software, Inc. in the sale
of certain software assets to Productive Computing; Morgan Crucible Company, plc in its
acquisition of two units of Carpenter Technology Corporation --
Carpenter Advanced Ceramics and Certech – for $145 million. They have become part of Morgan's Advanced
Technical Ceramics division.
SHG has provided valuation services to Clough Harbour & Associates, a professional
partnership that provides engineering services to the general business community;
the Town of Ft. Edward to assist in the initial tax assessment of the GE PCB de-watering
facility; China Networks Media, Ltd., a television advertising company working in partnership
with municipal and provincial TV stations in the People's Republic of China; Sportz Ventures, LLC, a social networking site aimed at serious
athletes; HAPPY Software, Inc., a provider of
software and support services for improved management of federally-funded
low-income housing project.
